Bijou is in charge of keeping birds off the boat. She's also in charge of general security. We've been teaching her the command: "Bijou, guard the boat!"  She's better security than a gun!!  Bijou has lived on a farm on a river and in the desert.  Being the wonderful 'all around, good girl", she is adapting to the boat life very well.  She has been sailing a couple of times and stays perched on the side of the boat, ready to dive in after pelicans!!  She is, officially, an Australian Cattle Dog.  We are now calling her the Australian Pelican dog!
